The Local Mobility Agency

ACT is the local agency for mobility and public transit in the City and Province of Reggio Emilia.

As such, it plans, organizes and integrates public transit services with those offered around the area by private transportation companies. The Agency manages the business aspects of these services, sets fares, and develops the relative marketing plans.

It also directly manages the public financing that funds regionally-coordinated programs. Finally, the Agency oversees bid and tender procedures for outsourced services and ensures that the relative contracts are fulfilled.

Services Delegated by Local Governments

Local government bodies have delegated additional services to the Agency (excluding car, trolley bus and tram planning and management operations).

In particular, Reggio Emilia and other provincial towns have given ACT a mandate to:

• organize and administer school bus services and transit services for the disabled
• organize auxiliary mobility services, such as: supervising parking (in Reggio Emilia, Castelnovo Monti, Scandiano, Guastalla and Sassuolo) and public mobility systems such as escalators and elevators
• administer public garages and the conversion of provincial governments' automotive fleets (and shortly, of privately owned cars) to LPG fuel
• organize ACT business car sharing exchanges among companies in Reggio Emilia.
• supervise video surveillance via closed-circuit TV in public areas, including recording and archiving the images

The following is a list of the municipalities which have delegated ACT - the Local Mobility Agency - to manage all public non-scheduled transport as well as all other auxiliary mobility services:

• Municipality of Reggio Emilia
• Municipality of Scandiano
• Municipality of Albinea
• Municipality of Casina
• Municipality of Poviglio
• Municipality of Fabbrico
• Municipality of Cadelbosco Sopra
• Municipality of Casalgrande

The Provincial government, on the other hand, has delegated ACT as its Local Mobility Agency responsible for all public transit services in the province (including authorization to establish newbus stops).
